Job Description

Vert, Inc. is seeking an experienced Technical Writer. The ideal candidate will bring innovative ideas and passion to the business of making complicated design and build documents easy to understand and easy to use for anyone. This candidate will be called upon to hit the ground running in a fast paced, and fast-growing company, quickly creating simple, clear and effective tools for all divisions of the company. You will be asked to assemble and train a team of Technical Writers to scale with the company. The goal is to be able to sit in the seat of the designer/engineer and explain their view to the general audience. 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Possess the mindset that no idea is out of bounds on how to deliver technical information to the average user; written documents should only be a starting basis and backup
  • Manage, organize, and communicate project information and project activities
  • Adhere to corporate and regulatory documentation, as well as process and procedural for the construction industry
  • Act effectively, always aligned with “lean” principles and the overriding KPI’s in Safety, People, Quality, Rate and Cost
  • Interface cross-functionally to acquire source material for documents and to develop an understanding of the products and processes
  • Document steps to the assembly of pre-fabricated homes and create user manuals using technical data provided by engineers and design team.
  • Build, coach and manage a team of Technical Writers 

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of technical content creation within an enterprise documentation team, technical writing team, professional services organization, or similar practice
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in English, Technical Communication, Computer Science, Information Design, or related field
  • Experience working directly with designers and technical subject matter experts
  • Experience using multiple documentation tools to write, format, manage, and publish high-quality content
  • Ability to deal with ambiguous problems, troubleshoot, and build solutions with proper project management
  • Ability to influence multiple stakeholders and lead cross-functional projects across category or other departments.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand and use web metrics to gauge trends and evaluate content in an unbiased fashion.
