Position Summary:

The Technical Writing and Training Specialist will create documentation and develop training programs leveraging different formats and methods to further the use and mastery of our enterprise information technology assets. In addition, this individual will assess and define areas that require training, manage a repository of training materials, and conduct training classes to support our employees.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work with internal teams to understand the capabilities of our various systems and the corresponding business processes to define documentation requirements
  • Develop and/or procure high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience
  • Conduct employee training through a combination of Instructor-led classes and virtual or e-Learning classes that engage employees regarding the appropriate use of a given system
  • Create and maintain a data repository of training materials and system documentation
  • Create IT department newsletters and product release notes as needed
  • Research and utilize new and innovative methods to conduct training
  • Create tutorials and quick reference guides to help end-users use a variety of different applications
  • Produce training schedules and classroom agendas for use throughout the enterprise
  • Develop reporting including KPIs on the effectiveness of training programs.

Specific Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required:

  • Good communication, teamwork, and negotiation skills
  • Familiarity with leading training, testing and various knowledge transfer techniques
  • The ability to create deliverables with tight deadlines under pressure
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • The ability to create and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues and customers
  • Business awareness and understanding of the training methods
  • A willingness to keep up to date with developments in new technology
  • A commitment to continuing professional development (CPD).

Position Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in English or Communications is preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5+ years as a Technical Writer and/or Trainer
  • Understanding of Information Technology systems – specifically ERP and Manufacturing Systems

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Office Environment
  • Routinely is required to sit; walk; talk and hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, crawl, reach, and stretch.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 15lbs.
