Ignite is currently seeking a driven, detail-oriented Technical Writer to join our team supporting the PEO Missiles and Space, Integrated Fires Mission Command (IFMC) Project Office, Program Operations Directorate in Huntsville, AL. This position is expected to be onsite. Position requires a mid-level Technical Writer to join our Army project office and serve as documentation developer and gatekeeper.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Review, edit, and approve outgoing documentation for technical accuracy, Army style, and regulatory compliance.
· Author and refine documents such as Statements of Work (SOWs), Justifications & Approvals (J&As), white papers, Contract Requirements Packages (CRPs), and Acquisition Strategies.
· Maintain and update offices centralized Army acronym and abbreviation glossary.
· Enforce formatting and content requirements are in accordance with military and DoD documentation standards (e.g., MIL-STD, DI-guides).
· Collaborate with program managers, systems engineers, logisticians, and contracting personnel to gather input for documentation and validate technical content.
· Track document versions, manage configuration-control processes, and ensure timely delivery of required documentation.
· Identify gaps or inconsistencies in source material and drive resolution through clear, action-oriented feedback.
Job Requirements and Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
· Minimum of 3 years professional technical writing/editing experience—DoD or Army documentation preferred.
· Deep familiarity with Army acronyms, publications, and regulatory frameworks (FAR, DFARS, MIL-STDs).
· Expert command of grammar, style guides, and document structure.
· Strong interpersonal skills; able to challenge and collaborate with subject-matter experts.
· Excellent organization, time management, and attention to detail.
Desired Qualifications
· Microsoft Power Platform Certification (PL-100, PL-400, or similar).
· Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
· Understanding of relational databases and integrating with SQL Server (on-premises).
· Knowledge of Power BI development is a plus.
Security Clearance Requirements:
Must have an active Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one.
Education Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, English, Journalism, or related field
Other Requirements:
Must be a US citizen and be able to obtain and hold an active Security Clearance
