Primary Function:
Our Middleville MI location is currently seeking a Technical Writer to support our Engineering and Technical Services departments. This role is responsible for developing and updating instruction and service manuals as well as working with engineers and service team to create technical documents
Responsibilities:
- Edit and review all documents for quality and consistency.
- Select and specify photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material.
- Participate in observing pilot builds, unit audits, first production, lab build up, and testing of specific products as needed to gain a technical understanding and sequence of events to be translated into words.
- Compose test, format, and arrange the content of all information in a professional and technically accurate and legible presentation, easily readable and understandable by the installer and/or end user.
- Organize and write supporting documentation for maintenance, operations and spare parts manuals.
- Work closely with functional engineering groups to create spare parts lists.
- Work closely with functional engineering groups to create end user guides/manuals/training documentation
- Work with technical staff to understand components and systems to develop user friendly documentation.
- Standardize and streamline documentation processes.
Job Requirements:
- 2 years’ experience in the technical writing of material handling or technical projects is required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Communication/Writing or equivalent is required.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience with Adobe In-Design is preferred.
- Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD and Inventor is a plus.
- Exceptional attention to detail with strong written and verbal skills is required.
- Strong determination to produce applicable, accurate, and complete technical documentation for a variety of audiences is required.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers is required.
- Ability to manage time, meet deadlines, and set priorities with minimal direction is required.
- Flexibility when managing schedules, tasks, and requirements is required.
- Ability to understand complex, technical information and communicate it in practical language is required.
