Description

  

TurboChef Technologies is seeking a professional, skilled individual to work in our Engineering department located at our Carrolton, TX location. This individual is responsible for evaluating, designing, writing and maintaining technical documents and publications that are part of the TurboChef and CookTek product line.


This position is responsible for completing professional technical writing assignments within the Engineering department for both internal and external customers. The person is expected to support or lead projects by using available technology with minimum guidance. 

The responsibilities & requirements for the position are:

  • Comprehend complex systems and communicate their functions in an easy-to-understand format, which includes written procedures, graphics and illustrations, charts and tables.
  • Assumes responsibility for all technical writing work and supports multiple projects concurrently.
  • Leads the technical writing work of various engineering-focused projects and other business initiatives.
  • Write and/or update specification sheets, technical reports, manuals, brochures and correspondence for internal record keeping, customer reference or publications to support company objectives.
  • Analyze existing technical literature and documentation, collaborate to verify documentation with project leaders, engineers, and lab technicians. Coordinate distribution of written material.
  • Coordinate with sales, marketing, service, operations & quality to ensure input from all parties before publishing the literature.
  • Ability to work in the lab environment on equipment to verify and validate the technical publication.
  • Makes appropriate decisions regarding documentation style and delivery.
  • Displays technical competency & demonstrated experience in one or more operational areas (e.g. machine & process documentation, user instructions, specifications, and marketing materials.).
  • Maintains state-of-the-art awareness of relevant product technologies, technical document design & publication tools, and methodologies.
  • Coordinates interaction with outside vendors for technical writing tasks in specific languages.
  • Demonstrates and acts on detail-focused traits: organization, verification, investigation & accuracy.
  • Maintains and improves professional competencies & technical product knowledge.
Requirements

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in manufacturing or related environment.
  • Bachelor’s in English/Communications or technical degree from an accredited college or university.

Qualifications:

  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly detail oriented with time management skills.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office and Adobe products (e.g. InDesign, FrameMaker, Illustrator, and Photoshop).
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks Composer, and SolidWorks.
  • Ability to read and use measuring devices.
  • Hands on mechanical and electrical experience in manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Capable of using critiques from a variety of sources to improve the quality of technical publications.
